To the
Church Family of White Rock Baptist
Merry Christmas 2004!
Thank you
for your support in the past several months financially, spiritually,
emotionally and faithfully in
prayer. You are blessings in my life. I am doing well at YWAM Penang,
as we are finishing up our lecture
phase and preparing for outreach this week. I will be spending Christmas
in Taiwan, and I have already
begun some mandarin classes. We will be working with a YWAM base there
in Taipei, with their coffee
house ministry, as well as traveling to southern Taiwan to teach in some
high schools. After a month of
ministry, we will fly to the Philippines where we are to teach a mini-DTS
to high school-aged students in
several towns. This is a great opportunity to share how God is working
in us and also to learn to teach
new knowledge and understanding which we have recently learned.
In November,
God blessed me with the opportunity for my family to come visit me in
Penang, and travel
with them to visit our former home in West Kalimantan, Indonesia. My life
is not as much of a mystery to
me anymore! It helped so much to see my family and reconnect with their
lives and also to revisit our
childhood together as sisters. There were unforgettable experiences in
my life in just the past 3 months
and I cannot imagine what God has in store for the future!!
In the past
few months I have had a real sense of peace about God calling me to stay
here in Penang for
an extended study in missions and the Bible. There is a SBSCC, School
of Biblical Studies Core Course,
being offered from April to June 2005 at the Penang base. I have felt
God's guidance directing me to
attend this school and am currently in the middle of applying for it.
The faith for God to provide has
increased as I see him providing for my outreach, however, I may need
to borrow money from my parents
for SBSCC, which puts me behind in debt for my ambitions for fall 2005
post-secondary school. The course
costs about $900 USD for 3 months, not including any spending money for
necessities or outings. I will
continue to pray for God's will to be done, and I would ask you to consider
supporting me if you feel the
Holy Spirit's generosity and blessing. Again, I am delighted that He has
given me the opportunity to stay
in Penang to further enrich my foundation in His word.
I am praying
that the Christmas season is particularly focused on the true blessing
of Jesus' birth and that
His favor will fall on the church richly. May God bless the Christmas
programs and services and all the
preparation the people of the church are working on so that He may receive
the glory for everything.
Please keep me in your prayers as I will be away from family, traditions,
and familiar winter season in my
tropical Christmas experience this year. Please continue to pray for protection
as our teams travel to
Taiwan and the Philippines, and our other half of DTS to Thailand, Cambodia
and Laos. Thank you for your
sweet songs in prayer and your faithfulness and generosity. The church
has been so kind to me and I
have felt so loved, even as I am far away.
God bless
the church and its ministry. Love in Christ, Joanne
