Dear friends
and family,
Greetings
in the wonderful name of Jesus Christ our Lord. We thank you for your
prayers and support. This month we
have really felt your prayers as we have been faced with many attacks
from the enemy. We are in the fourth and final
term, and Satan does not want us to finish strong. He is doing everything
in his power to hinder the work here, from
staff relations to defiant students. Even in the midst of all this adversity
we can feel the hand of God.
This term Lizzy and I started a project with the grade five class of
praying for the world. We drew a map of the whole
world and then the students chose countries to pray for as they felt
led. We started in Africa and then spread to Europe
and Asia. Each country we pray for is colored in orange, and now about
95% of the globe is colored orange. I have
been receiving weekly updates from "Voice of the Martyrs",
an organization that provides weekly prayer updates on the
persecuted church around the world. Each week we read the class these
updates and they pray for their countries. Each
student also has drawn the flag of the country they're praying for,
and our classroom is filled with flags of these
countries. It has been a real eye opener for our kids who are getting
a global perspective of the church and the struggles
that Christians undergo around the world. Our prayers have infused a
passion in the students as well. We have begun an
early morning worship session. Everyday we meet at 7:30 and worship
before school starts. However, this has not gone
unnoticed by the enemy and he has been attacking our class and the school.
Please pray that our students will stay
strong.
There are only three weeks left of school. We are both excited for the
break yet at such an integral time we hate to let
them go in only three weeks. This year has been a groundbreaking year
for my grade five class. We started out quite
rough yet through your prayers and God's grace we have finally come
to a point where we have a close relationship. So
much so, that next year I will be moving to grade six with my students.
For weeks my students have been begging me to
teach them in grade six. When the principal asked if I would take them
in grade six I said yes. I tried to keep it from
them but one day they cornered me and when I told them that I would
be going to grade six with them they jumped out
of their chairs and shouted for joy. It was a flattering and precious
response. Next year Lizzy does not know what she
will be doing. She may remain in grade four or she may teach Preschool.
She is excited for the opportunity to teach
Preschool. Today we sat out on the grass and were marking our school
work when a whole mob of little kids came
climbing all over us and playing with us. Lizzy has such a gift with
little children; they seem to gravitate to her.
We did not raise the money for our plane tickets so we will not be coming
home for Christmas. We are sad that we
won't be able to come home, but we know God has a reason. We have already
made Christmas plans here and will be
spending Christmas with a local family. We'll have to buy a lot of extra
meat because the Christmas tradition in South
Africa is for the neighborhood children to go house to house singing
for food. So we will have a big BBQ for the kids
because it will be about 35°C or 102°F. It doesn't seem like
Christmas without the snow and cold weather. However,
we will be enjoying the sun and frequent trips to the beach.
We are still in need of supporters for next year. Please pray that God
will move on hearts to provide the necessary
funds. We know that God is faithful and that He takes care of His own.
Thank you for all your support and prayers.
God Bless you.
Prayer Needs:
*Pray for supporters for next year
*Pray that Satan will not be allowed to interfere with what God is doing
here
*Pray that our students will finish strong and remain pure over the
holiday
In
Him,
