DECEMBER LETTER WITH PHOTOS

Dear
friends and family,

Greetings in the wonderful name of Jesus Christ our Lord. School is now finished for the year. Yesterday we had our graduation for the grade sevens. It was a busy, wonderful, and
moving day for many. Lizzy and I were both emotional as we were saying goodbye to our
students and friends.

We are going to miss our students very much. Yesterday we spent as
much time with them as we could before saying goodbye for six weeks.
Some of our children do not want to go home, and have asked if they
could spend Christmas with us. Sive [SEE-vay] (photo on right) has
asked repeatedly if she could spend Christmas with us this year. She
does not have a father and her mother died earlier this year. She will
spend Christmas with her aunt whom she barely knows. Before she
asked, she made me promise that I would be their teacher next year in
Grade six because she only wants me.

During the last week of school, Athi [Ah-TEE] (picture at left) asked
for prayer. He is in Lizzy's class and is mildly autistic.

He has made a connection with Lizzy in a very unique way. He
opens up to Lizzy and trusts her a lot. He asked that she would
pray for his father. He was afraid to go home because his father is
an alcoholic and abusive. He prayed that his dad would stop drinking
and that God would keep him and his mother safe over the holiday.
Athi has been praying that his parents would become Christians as
well. Please pray for these two children.

Now that school is out Lizzy and I will spend our break preparing for
next year. However, not until we ourselves take a little break.
Tomorrow we are off to Durban for one week. We are taking some of
the Xhosa teachers for their teacher training, and the benefit of

being their chauffeurs is that we get to spend one week on the beautiful beaches of Durban
in 102°F or 35°C weather. Lizzy is excited because she finally gets to wear something other
than a skirt. I'm excited just to get out and see more of the country. Durban is about an 8-
hour drive from here through what is widely known as a treacherous highway. Please pray for
safety.

We pray for God's richest blessings on you and your families as you gather for Christmas. We
thank you so much for all of your support throughout the year. Your prayers have carried us
through so that we were able to finish this year well.

At the bottom of the page we have included our US and Canadian addresses where all
financial support can be sent.

Prayer Needs:
" Pray for supporters for next year.
" Pray for Athi and his family situation.
" Pray for Sive, that she would take comfort in Jesus and be blessed this holiday.
" Pray for safety for the teachers and us as we travel to and from Durban.
" Pray for all our students as they are home, that they would stand strong in the face of temptations and that they would hold onto Jesus, or in Xhosa "uYesu bambalela"

In Him,
