Greetings
in the wonderful name of our Lord Jesus Christ. We are now one week
into the second term of
school and everything is going well. Beatriz has returned from Cuba
and amazingly is almost caught up in
her schoolwork. Thank you for your prayers. She is so grateful to be
reunited with her family here and her
classmates. As Beatriz returned, one of my other grade six students
has left. Pelisa, a kind and delightful
student, moved to Port Elizabeth to attend another school. She started
the term with us but mid-way
through the first day of school her mother came to take her off to her
new school many hours away.
Pelisa wasn't expecting it, and her mother had me explain to Pelisa
that she was leaving. She has grown up
in this school and it was hard for her to leave all her friends to go
to a new city and a new school. It was
sad to see her leave.
The
reason she had to leave brings us to an urgent prayer request. Valley
Dawn Christian School has always
been a boarding school. The greatest ministry opportunities have been
with the boarding students. Because
they are here 24/7 it gives us that ministry time outside of class.
However, the boarding facilities may have
to be closed this year due to financial constraints. If the boarding
side of the school closes, than many of
my grade six students will be without housing. We are earnestly praying,
and we ask that you pray with us
that God will provide the means to keep the boarding open.
Elizabeth
and I have prayerfully decided to return home at the end of this year.
We have been so blessed in serving here and we know that next year God
has something new planned for us. We are writing this now
because we need to raise money for our plane tickets home. Our travel
agent has told us that we must
book soon because flights are quickly filling up. We need to raise about
$3,000 before August, Lord willing.
If you would like to contribute, please send your cheques to the addresses
found on our home page.
