NOVEMBER 2005
Dear friends and family,

Greetings in the wonderful name of Jesus. We have so much to thank God for since our last newsletter. Since the
last time we wrote God has provided all the funds for our plane ticket, and we are scheduled to arrive in Seattle on
December 9th. We also continue to thank God for his protection over us. We have both recovered well from the
accident last month. Lizzy and I are still finding bruises that are just now surfacing, but they serve as a humble
reminder to praise God that we are still alive.

We are a few weeks into our fourth and final term here in South Africa. In just over one month we will be packing
to come home. We are going to miss our home here, but we won't miss the weather. We have run out of water
and the dam is empty. So our town has no water supply and we have not had a good rain storm in months. On top
of that, we endured a good 43°C (aprox. 120°F) day. I closed school early because it was unbareable. On top
of that, the power went out so we had no fans. So, all that to say we are looking forward to a white Christmas.

We have had another major adjustment in our life. One of the girls in my class, named
Khongi, had not shown up for the first two weeks of this term. So we called to find out
where she was. Her mother was shocked to learn that Khongi had not been to school.
We learned later that she was not living with her mother, instead she was living with her
second-cousin. We also learned that she was being neglected, not fed, and in an
emotionallyrepressive situation. So we took her into our home to live with us. She is
thirteen years old and an extremely sweet girl. In the two years that I've known her she
has rarely been open to anyone. She has very few friends in class because she is so
shy and introverted. She is at the top of the class academically, but she is socially
reclusive. There is a lot of hurt and despondency in her life. In these few days we have
become closer than we had since we first met her. We are praying that we will be able to
maximize every minute that we have with her. She doesn't come from a stable home, and
has never lived with real family. This is the first time she's been in a home with a
married couple.
Having Khongi stay with us has been wonderful for us, and it's been so good for
Khongi. We never realized how much it costs to feed another mouth, and suddenly
we have a heightened sense of appreciation for how our parents fed and cared for us.
Lizzy and I have gone from being newlyweds to parenting a teenager overnight!

We have included two pictures of us with Khongi. Please pray for Khongi. Pray that
shewill quickly get adjusted to her new life, that she will open up to us and allow us to
loveher. Pray above all that she will find love and acceptance in Jesus Christ. Also,
please pray that we will have the wisdom and sensitivity to know what is best for her.
We really love Khongi, and we hate to leave her at the end of the year. Her plans for

next year are uncertain. It looks like she'll be moving to Johannesburg to study there, where she will be closer to
her mother.

We are so excited to come home, yet at the same time we are sad to leave. Lizzy and I have fallen in love with
our kids, and we would love to bring them all home with us. We know that it is God's will for us to come home, yet
at the same time it is difficult to go. We only have five weeks left and we want to make the most of every minute
of that time.

Prayer Needs:
-Pray for Khongi
-Pray that we find employment when we come home

May God bless you.

In Him,
Tyler & Elizabeth Jorgensen
